J Force 22nd Battalion Pipe Bandby Chas Bunker22nd Battalion Pipe Band was formed in the Middle East in the early part of the war. Sgt K Petty and Sgt H Burbury came from the Middle East with the Pipe Band gear to Japan and formed the band in Japan. When the members of the band came home in August 1947, all the pipes and drums etc were stored at Headquarters. The building they were stored in was burnt to the ground with all the band equipment. A little time after that half of Chofu got burnt down and after that there were no more fires. It was a sad loss as the equipment had gone through most of the war. This equipment was donated by Pipe Bands in New Zealand. Members of the J Force Pipe Band (not in order): R Bell, C Bunker, H Burbury, R Buchan, R Collingwood, G Cormack, A Dennison, McDonald, L Dobson, R Good, D Glen, K Forrest, M Firebrand, F Huse, J Harrison, G Henderson, J McKenzie, H Murray, T McMurtrie, M Muldrew, R Murray, F McGillan, L Purdie, K Petty, L Winborne, P Wilson and Major McGregor.
